Physician Bio
Dr. Crellin joined Wellington in the summer of 2007 and has had an interest in Orthopaedic Medicine, both personally and professionally, for a large portion of his life. As a student at Glen Este High School, he was an avid soccer player. While playing soccer, he sustained a knee injury and was treated by a Wellington physician. So began his journey into his career in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine.
Dr. Crellin graduated Magna Cum Laude with college and departmental honors from Marietta College with a BS in Sports Medicine and a minor in Psychology. He then graduated from Ohio University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. After medical school, Dr. Crellin completed his internship at Doctors Hospital of Stark County in Massillon, Ohio. He then did his Orthopaedic residency at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. While sitting for his residency boards, Dr. Crellin scored an impressive 2nd in the nation on the written exam and 8th on the oral exam. After completion of his residency, he did a Sports fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. During this time, he was the covering physician for the Wilmington Blue Rocks (the Kansas City Royals Class A affiliate), the Philadelphia Kixx (Major Indoor Soccer League) and West Chester University’s Division II athletics. He was particularly involved in research on ACL reconstruction and baseball pitchers’ shoulder injuries.
In addition to having a succesful orthopaedic practice, Dr. Crellin is proud to be affiliated with several events, schools and teams in the area. These include Glen Este High School, Sycamore Middle School and also the Queen City Steam Hockey Team. He has also been serving as the Orthopaedic Physician for the Chiquita Classic Nationwide Tour since its inception.
Dr. Crellin believes in the Osteopathic philosophy of seeing the body as an entire interrelated system.
“By believing in this philosophy, I feel I have become a much more well-rounded physician. I believe I can not only treat the musculoskeletal system as I have been trained, but also recognize and understand how pathology is affecting other systems and the patient as a whole. I can then choose to either treat those other systems or refer the patient to the appropriate physician. To me, there is no greater satisfaction in life than to follow your calling. I believe that Orthopaedics is that calling for me, and I truly enjoy the art of communicating with people, the challenge of diagnosing and treating patients, and the sincerity of helping my fellow human beings.”
