Michael C. Welch, M.D.
Physician Bio
Raised in a small Midwestern town, Dr. Welch was exposed to the practice of medicine early in life as he traveled with his “black bag” country doctor father on rounds to the local farms where babies had been delivered, fractures set and lacerations repaired. Seeing his father treated as a friend of the family by his patients would later shape the formation of his own practice philosophy that each patient cared for is the most important patient he would have.
In his fifth grade the family moved to Columbus, Ohio, where the seeds were sewn for Dr. Welch’s love of joint replacement surgery. The Ohio State University sent him to Switzerland to study complicated fracture and joint replacement surgery which became the subspecialty center of his practice. During the course of his practice, Dr. Welch has performed thousands of joint replacement surgeries, lectured nationally to other orthopaedic surgeons and participated in extensive clinical research and design implementation for total joint surgery instrumentation and implants.
