Denver T. Stanfield, MD
A native of Southern Ohio, Dr. Stanfield graduated from Georgetown High School, then spent four years as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S.Navy. His naval duties were spent with the post Vietnam Fleet Marine Force of the Marine Corps. On returning to civilian life, he earned a BS degree in Biology from the University of Cincinnati and his Doctor of Medicine from the College of Medicine. Dr. Stanfield elected to travel west to serve both his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation at the University of Oklahoma. This provided training at the prestigious McBride Clinic and Bone and Joint Hospital--one of the few completely Orthopaedic hospitals in the country. He also trained at the Oklahoma Center for Athletes and Don O'Donoghue Rehabilitation Center and considered a Don O'Donoghue alumni--named after the "father of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine" and founder of the Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He returned to Ohio to begin his private practice in 1990. Dr. Stanfield became interested in the potential of Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery greater than ten years ago. He was one of the first in Southern Ohio to successfully perform a totally arthroscopic repair of the shoulder rotator cuff. He now has performed several hundred such procedures and is arguably the most experienced arthroscopic shoulder surgeon in the area. His advanced surgical skills have been recognized nationally. He now is an instructor at the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Chicago where orthopaedic surgeons come internationally to learn surgical techniques from "Master Surgeons" such as Dr. Stanfield. He is a frequently requested speaker and surgical skills instructor. Dr, Stanfield serves sports team physician for several local high schools and is a consultant to many other sports teams in the region. Dr. Stanfield is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He currently serves on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Arthroscopy. He also serves on the Information Technology Committee of the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. Stanfield is the former Chief of Staff of Mercy Hospital Anderson. He has served on the board of several local hospitals and surgical centers. Dr. Stanfield is the President and CEO of Wellington Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine, one of the nations' largest group practices specializing in musculoskeletal care. Dr. Stanfield limits his practice to the eastern side of Cincinnati with office locations in Eastgate and Anderson.
