Spine Team
Physiatrists Matthew McLaughlin, MD and F. Clifford Valentin, MD, comprise Wellington's spine care team. Specialized care for acute and chronic spine pain is available at each of Wellington's six main offices.
Physiatry
Drs. Matthew McLaughlin and F. Clifford Valentin are full-time physiatrists - medical doctors who specialize in relieving pain without surgery. Both are board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation. They combine physical examination with electrodiagnostic studies to discover the origin of pain. They focus much of their practice on the diagnosis, management and treatment of problems associated with the back and spine.
Spine Surgery
Approximately 10% of all patients with back and spine injuries or illnesses need surgical treatment. Through expert diagnosis and treatment, Drs. McLaughlin and Valentin will work to relieve pain and identify that small percentage of patients who need surgery. They work closely with area spine surgeons and they will refer you to a surgical specialist, if needed.
