Primary Care Sports Medicine

Stephen Dailey, M.D., is one of approximately 18 Board Certified Emergency Medicine Specialists who have completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine. Dr. Dailey has been a member of the Wellington Team since 1994. He is Director of Sports Medicine for Miami University and an Emergency Medicine Physician at McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford. Dr. Dailey treats office patients seven half-days each week. He has a special interest in exercise-induced syndromes and he is defining the primary care musculoskeletal role for Wellington.

Ed Marcheschi, M.D., is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and has subspecialty qualification in the field of Primary Care Sports Medicine. Dr. Marcheschi's unique medical training complements the Wellington team of physicians in their care of patients and athletes. "Comprehensive care of the athlete includes the management of head injuries", says Dr. Marcheschi. Dr. Marcheschi directs the Wellington Concussion Management Program, using a software-based neuropsychological test to assist in evaluating the severity of a sports-related concussion and determining a safe return to play following a concussion. Dr. Marcheshi has served as Team Physician for the former Cincinnati Cyclones and Cincinnati Swarm.

John Zisko, M.D., completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic, where he served as assistant physician for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland State University sports teams, and the Cleveland Ballet. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine. Dr. Zisko affirms the role of coaches, trainers, physical therapists, athletes and their parents as members of his team to get an injured athlete back to the playing field. "It's a multi-disciplinary approach to taking care of athletes," he explains. He puts this philosophy to work as team physician at local high schools.
