Spinal Discomfort

The spine consists of three major sections, beginning with the cervical and descending into the thoracic and the lumbar. Below the lumbar spine is a bone called the sacrum, which is part of the pelvis. Spinal pain can have a variety of complex causes and should be treated by a medical professional.

Spinal injury/inflammation may generate pain that extends down the arm or the leg with associated numbness or tingling. There may be a change in bowel or bladder habits as well as an inability to sleep comfortably.

Diagnostic procedures may include X-rays or MRIs. Treatment will require modification of offending activity, medications and perhaps physical therapy.

Wellington Orthopaedics & Sportsmedicine has a dedicated spine team. For a complete list of physicians, click here.
