Treatment and Services

At Wellington Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine, we have physicians who specialize in virtually every field of orthopaedic surgery. Our board certified surgeons provide care in four stages: diagnosis, education, treatment and rehabilitation. Our goal is always a complete recovery with a full and functional return to all activities.

The expertise of Wellington physicians extends over the range of orthopaedic medicine and its many subspecialties, including:

Sports Medicine:
Doctors Heidt Jr., Lawhon, Harding, Hess and Favorito are the five orthopaedic surgeons who have completed sports medicine fellowship training programs. They have extensive arthroscopic training and together perform more than 1,000 arthroscopic procedures each year. Dr. Lawhon has pediatric training and also treats pre-adolescent athletes.

Hand and Wrist:
Dr. Plettner completed a fellowship in hand and microsurgery at the University of Louisville in 1987. All of his work is in the area of hand and wrist care.
Dr. Rhoad completed a research fellowship at the McKay Orthopaedic Research Laboratory and studied under a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at The Hand Center of San Antonio, TX.

Foot and Ankle:
Dr. Eisele completed her sports medicine fellowship program at Ohio State University in 1985 and her foot and ankle fellowship at the Center for Orthopaedic Care in Cincinnati in 1992. She restricts her practice to diabetic and medical foot care as well as foot and ankle injuries.

Reconstructive/Joint Replacement/Arthritis:
Drs. Snyder, Welch, Miller, Stanfield, Reilly and Lee have extensive training in reconstructive and joint replacement care. Together, these physicians perform at least 400 primary knee replacements and 300 primary hip replacements annually. They also perform at least 100 secondary joint revisions annually. Drs. Snyder, Welch and Miller have expertise in many subspecialty areas related to arthritis and degenerative joint disease processes.

Physiatry:
Dr. Fitz is a full-time physiatrist - a medical doctor choosing to specialize in back care. Dr. Fitz works with Dr. Ferree and together they form the "Wellington Spine Team." Dr. Fitz also performs EMGs in four different locations each week. He has extensive experience with the Bureau of Workers' Compensation and several rehabilitation programs. He joined Wellington on a full-time basis in 1991.

Additionally:
All of the Wellington physicians provide general orthopaedic care. Specialty care is referred within the group, when appropriate, based on the physician's subspecialty and expertise. Patients and physicians appreciate Wellington's 24-hour "on call " coverage, with convenient east and west side call teams.

Primary Care:
Dr. Dailey is a full-time member of the Wellington Team. He is only one of approximately 18 Board Certified Emergency Medicine Specialist who has completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine. Dr. Dailey has been a member of the Wellington Team since 1994. He is Director of Sports Medicine for Miami University and an Emergency Physician at McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford. In addition to his practice enhancement/practice development duties, Dr. Dailey also treats office patients six half days each week. He has a special interest in exercise-induced syndromes and he is defining the primary care musculoskeletal role for Wellington. Within the next two years, Dr. Dailey and Wellington hope to recruit at least two similarly trained and well-qualified physicians.
