About Dr. Joel Sorger

One of the few specialists in the state of Ohio trained in orthopaedic oncology, Joel Sorger, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with over a decade of medical experience. A key member of the Wellington Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine team, Dr. Sorger provides care at their Cincinnati offices in Blue Ash and Anderson.  

Dr. Sorger began his journey into the field of medicine at the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in biology before continuing his medical education at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, also in Richmond. After earning his medical degree Dr. Sorger then moved to Cincinnati and performed two residencies at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, one in general surgery and the other in orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Sorger also completed fellowships in orthopaedic research and the management and treatment of bone and soft tissue sarcomas.

As an orthopaedic oncologist, Dr. Sorger has experience treating a number of conditions, including Ewing’s sarcoma, osteosarcoma, and a host of other malignancies involving the musculoskeletal system. Dr. Sorger splits his time between oncology patients as well as those in need of general orthopaedic care.

Dr. Sorger is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery as well as being a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Musculoskeletal Tumor Society, and Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati.
