Rotator Cuff Tendonitis

Shoulder pain can indicate not only an injury to the shoulder, but also a possible neck, heart or lung connection. Direct shoulder pain is usually accompanied by loss of motion, instability or weakness, while neck pain radiates downward from the neck. Heart and lung pain tend to worsen with exertion.

Rotator cuff tendonitis is the most common shoulder pain, often occurring as an occupational injury. Sufferers will notice pain with overhead activity, difficulty sleeping and pain with exertion such as lifting.

Treatment can include anti-inflammatories, modification of activity, exercise and perhaps physical therapy. Pain, weakness and motion loss that lasts more than 3-5 days with no improvement may require medical attention.
