Khalily, Cyna, MD

Five years from now I wont be doing surgery the way we are doing it today, says Cyna Khalily, M.D. With his passion for discovery and numerous research projects, presentations and publications to his credit, he aims to be not on the leading edge of orthopaedic care, but defining it.

The Cincinnati native has returned to his hometown - after completing fellowships in both reconstructive surgery and orthopaedic research - to join a practice that will give him that chance. Our field is exploding right now with opportunities to improve so many facets of our care. Wellington has a track record for redefining what can be donewith new materials and techniques to reclaim lives burdened by bone and joint pain, Dr. Khalily says.

At Wellington, Dr. Khalily focuses on adult reconstructive procedures for the hip and knee, including primary and complex revisions. He also provides arthroscopy, sports medicine and general orthopaedic care for patients of all ages. And he intends to continue his research. I have had the opportunity to evaluate new implant designs, materials and techniques to know what works and why, Dr. Khalily says. Those experiences have given me a ground-up understanding of the biological and mechanical aspects of various treatment options. From my research, I know the best options I can offer my patients today. Thats important, because I treat my patients the way I would treat my familyI want them to have the benefit of the most advanced care thats right for them and their situation.

For Dr. Khalily, establishing his practice in Cincinnati represents a continuation of a local medical tradition. He is the fourth in his family to choose medicine as a profession. Dr. Khalily makes his home in the city with his wife, Shawna, an artist specializing in drawing and printmaking, and their two children.
