Stanfield, Denver T., MD

A native of southern Ohio, Dr. Stanfield graduated from Georgetown High school and then enlisted for four years as a Hospital Corpsman in the U.S. Navy. As a sailor assigned to the U.S. Marine Corps medical service, he developed his passion for orthopaedics and the care of musculoskeletal injuries. On returning to civilian life, he earned a B.S. degree in Biology from the University of Cincinnati. He stayed in Cincinnati to pursue his Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

Dr. Stanfield elected to travel West to serve both his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation at the University of Oklahoma. This provided training at the prestigious McBride Clinic and Bone and Joint Hospital - one of the few completely Orthopaedic hospitals in the country. He also trained at the Oklahoma Center for Athletes and Don O'Donoghue Rehabilitation Center and considered a Don O'Donoghue alumni - named after the "father of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine" and founder of the Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He returned to Ohio to begin his private practice in 1990.

He considers himself a general orthopaedist with a focus on sports medicine. He is on the active staff of the Surgery Center of Cincinnati, Mercy Anderson Surgery Center, Mercy Hospital Anderson and Brown County General Hospital. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of Mercy Anderson and Clermont Hospitals.

Dr. Stanfield is recognized for his technical surgical skills whether it be with the treatment of complex fractures, joint reconstruction or the use of the arthroscope. He is most proud of his expertise in arthroscopic shoulder surgery. He is arguable one of the leading arthroscopists in the area, routinely performing rotator cuff repair surgery completely through the arthroscope. He has attended many Masters courses for advanced arthroscopic surgical techniques and has been nominated and accepted into the Arthorscopy Association of North America.

Dr. Stanfield is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon and a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

He keeps up to date on sports medicine through active participation in professional conferences throughout the U.S. and active membership in the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Medical Triathlon Association. He remains personally active in endurance sports. This began as a member of a State Champion Cross Country team in high school and has continued through numerous road races, triathlons, bike races, adventure races and has recently completed his fifth marathon.

Dr. Stanfield limits his practice to the eastern side of Cincinnati with office locations in Eastgate, Anderson and a satellite office in Georgetown. Appointments for consultation can be made by calling 513/753-7488 or 800/269-2308.
