Tendonitis

Throughout the body, muscles are connected to the bone and to other tissues via tendons. When the tendon wears out or is damaged the result is a painful swelling and inflammation known as tendonitis. The associated pain is sometimes described as a gritty sensation that occurs with tendon movement.

Treatments can include rest, ice packs, anti-inflammatories or cortisone shots. If symptoms do not subside after a couple weeks, or if symptoms are due to a sudden trauma, seek medical guidance.
