Karen A. Glandon, D.P.M.

Even as a high school sophomore, Dr. Karen Glandon was drawn to medicine, volunteering in a suburban Dayton hospital. Yet it was a visionary teacher who saw her potential and challenged her to turn her talents to the healing arts. She took the advice to heart and never looked back.

An avid learner, Dr. Glandon earned both her undergraduate degree in biology and her doctor of podiatric medicine degree with honors. After eight years of intensive training – much of it the same as that required for a medical degree – she was primed for more. Dr. Glandon completed a rigorous two-year surgical residency in foot and ankle care. She also found time to conduct her own research and teach other colleagues.

Confident in her skills to relieve foot and ankle problems, she would still rather prevent them. "So many foot problems in patients with diabetes, for example, can be avoided if we are proactive, not reactive," Dr. Glandon says. "It takes a team effort – my patient and me. We work together to achieve health."

Her broad-based medical training also gives her the insight to see the early warning signs of other conditions her patients may have. She stays alert to developing problems with skin or circulation, for example, and directs her patients to the care they need. "I treat all of my patients the way I would family members. I am interested in their total health, and that includes watching out for other problems that may need attention."

Dr. Glandon sees patients downtown in the Carew Tower as well as in Blue Ash and Western Hills.
