Morton Bertram, III, M.D.

As a third-generation physician, Dr. Mort Bertram brings a true sense of community to his orthopaedic practice. Both his father and grandfather practiced in a small Kentucky town--passing down values that continue to drive Dr. Bertram.

The surgeon, who specializes in total joint replacement, practices solely at the Anderson Township office, and he lives with his family in the same neighborhood.

"My philosophy is to deliver the very best care I can for my patients," said the board-certified surgeon. "I really make a point to get to know my patients because I see them out in the community."

Dr. Bertram received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky and his medical degree from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. His post-graduate work included an internship and residency at the University of Cincinnati, and a fellowship in adult reconstruction and total joint replacement from the prestigious New England Baptist Hospital in Boston.

"Our primary goal with joint replacement surgery is to relieve pain," said Dr. Bertram. "In general, most patients see a significant reduction in the amount of pain they experience, which is very rewarding."

Dr. Bertram also emphasizes the importance of physical therapy, often taking an active role in rehabilitation programs.

"The patient should know in advance that a total recovery is going to take a lot of work. But if they are willing to make the necessary sacrifices, they will find the rewards are more than worthwhile," he said.
